At Johnston Fence Contracting, we take great care in the safety of our team and customers. All of our team are fully trained and our company is fully insured and bonded.

There are many considerations that take places before any project commences. It is not always possible to know what is below the surface. There is an underground network of gas lines, electricity, telephone, internet and TV cable wires, as well as water and sewer connections that could be damaged if you dig in the wrong spot. Knowing what’s below protects you and your family.

We ensure all the right permissions and safety precautions are in place on your behalf so that you can have peace of mind about the safety and legality of your fence installation.

Following Call Before You Dig Law

Damaging underground services can have serious consequences such as:

 • Personal injury to you and others
 • Loss of essential services, creating a safety risk for yourself and others
 • Expensive restoration costs and potential legal action against you

That’s why for your safety, and the safety of others, you must determine where the underground facilities are located before starting construction, landscaping or any other project.

Conducting an underground utilities search is a critical precaution with any fencing project. Any utility locates on your private property—such as Union Gas locates or Promark, for example—need to be identified before work can begin. When the underground facilities have been marked, you can dig with care.

If you do plan to do your own project, call before you dig. Don’t assume that you can just go by the average natural gas line burial depth in Ontario.
